Teplice (Czech pronunciation: [ˈtɛplɪtsɛ]) (until 1948 Teplice-Šanov; German: Teplitz-Schönau or Teplitz) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 49,000 inhabitants. It is the second largest Czech spa town, after Karlovy Vary. The historic city centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone.
