Effium is an autonomous Orring community in Ebonyi State of southeast region, Nigeria. Effium is located in the nothern part of Ohaukwu local government area of Ebonyi State. The indigenous people are known as Effium or Uffiom, and the spoken indigenous language is Korring language of Effium extraction. Igbo language is also spoken as the second language, and Ezza, Amuda and Arochukwu dialects are also spoken by the Ezza, Amuda and Aro settlers who moved from Ezekuna, Amuda and Arochukwu their ancestral homes to settle in Effium as farmers and traders. Some unpopular versions of this settlement in Effium held that the later settlers such as the Ezza came as war mercenaries.
